Wake each morning to the deep echo
of Mantled Howler Monkeys’ troop
calls bouncing off the mountains. Their
howls can be heard at sunrise and
sundown – with the sound traveling up
to three miles away. While their deep
grumble can be frightening, these
tree-dwelling friends are vegetarian
and live off of the land.
Soaring high above, Scarlet Macaws
are one of Costa Rica’s most majestic
birds with their signature red, yellow
and blue bright feathers. In recent
years they have become increasingly
endangered – Vista Celestial has
planted more than 20 Almendro Trees
that serve as habitats to the Macaws
and over 1,000 other species.
A picture-perfect way to explore
the beauty of Costa Rica is from
horseback. Guests are invited to the
nearby Rancho La Merced National
Wildlife Refuge where horseback rides
112 ILHA
through the 1,250-acre property
allow for a closer look at the country’s
wildlife and beauty.
The opportunities to explore the
exoctic wildlife of Costa Rica are
