Hotels and Sustainable
Development
ORIGINE, the Hotel Room
of Tomorrow by DELPORTE
Hospitality
Sustainable development in buildings
has been in full swing thanks to
numerous developments such as
the creation of environmental
certifications. BREEAM, LEED
and HQE are among the most well-
known certifications when it comes to
constructing or developing real estate
in sustainable ways. It must be noted
that although these factors guarantee
the respect of the environment, they
are not sufficiently flexible for adapting
to all sectors of activity.
La Chambre ORIGINE was designed
such as a hotel room might be in 2020;
that is, by integrating the criteria of
sustainable development around well-
being and technological innovations. It
offers a return to the origins to ensure
comfort and allow the client to resource
himself so that he can fully enjoy his
stay at the hotel and have the energy
necessary for his stay. The stakes
are about demonstrating that all the
elements present in the maintenance
of the room correspond to an approach
integrating sustainable development, as
much through the choice of materials
as in the functioning and management
of the spaces.
Why ORIGINE?
For the last several years, the room
and bedroom have witnessed the
introduction of numerous new
technologies, and in the process,
we have come to overlook the hotel
room’s original objective: a good night’s
sleep! The idea was thus to return to
This is especially true of the hotel
sector, where establishing sustainability
cannot take place to the detriment of
the client experience. In a sector where
operating costs represent a significant
source of expenses, the idea of uniting
sustainable development and the
control of consumption is an idea that
has well succeeded in seducing more
than one establishment.
It is of utmost importance to involve
hotel clients in an environmental
approach. This can only take place
by delivering well-being and positive
experiences across the intention.
It is no longer possible to continue
operating on a discourse that does
not associate them directly. The
environmental stakes in the hotel
industry oblige us to be more and more
responsible. Today, 3.6 billion people
live in urban area, and in 2050, that
number is projected to be more than
6 billion. When we consider that 80%
of CO2 emissions are generated in big
cities, we must find ways to limit this
growth if we are to curb global warming.
Our natural resources will only grow
increasingly scarce; now is the time to
learn how to value and better manage
them in order to preser ve them.
La Chambre ORIGINE: A
source of naturality and
absolute well-being, a
solution for the future of
hotels
