Luxe Travel Hotspot: India

By Alyssa Nand

March can be a difficult month in terms of travel. There are many sites to visit all over the world, but when it comes to events there is only one place that will top the list for March 2018: India.

The country of India is located in the Asian continent and is known for its vast terrain, from the Himalayas to the Indian Ocean coastline where spring breakers go for vacation. With languages born over 3,000 years ago and Hinduism being argued as one of the oldest religions in the world, it is no wonder India is one of the most desirous locations for travel. The country is not only rich with people but also culture, history, and a strong sense of faith. The country has more than 1.2 billion people, making it the second largest population in the world. Today, India is still one of the fastest-growing economies in the world.

There are many reasons why India is the Luxe travel hotspot for March, however there are certain locations and events that have to be on the must-see list if this is the destination of choice:

1. Taj Mahal.

When many people think of India sites, the first location that comes to mind is the Taj Mahal. And why wouldn't it? It is, after all, one of the seven wonders of the world. Located in Agra, the Taj Mahal is unarguably the epitome of love. Commissioned in 1632 by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, this masterpiece of architecture houses the tomb of Mumtaz Mahal-his favorite wife. After his death, Shah Jahan was placed in a tomb alongside her. The building of the Taj Mahal had placed the emperor and the country in almost complete bankruptcy, and this is clearly seen in the detailed artistry and intricacy of every piece on the land and the mausoleum itself. In India, the Taj Mahal is a symbol of the greatest love story ever told.
