I am working to tie all of my endeavors (my writing, the benefit event, and the shoe line) into one centrally focused purpose: prompting sexual assault awareness. In May of 2017 I will release my most impactful novel to date: Noah’s Rights, a riveting, emotionally charged tale of battling child sexual abuse. I’m on a path towards moving away from being an ‘urban fiction’ author and becoming more of a socially conscious author using my words to work towards the mission of ending sexual abuse, especially among children
2. If you could only do one, which would it be? Why?
I think that quite possibly the most fulfilling venture yet is the sexual assault awareness aspect of my life. There’s nothing more gratifying than knowing that you’re walking in your purpose and doing something meaningful. We only live once. I believe that it is our duty to make this one go-round count for something and not just merely take up space on Earth. Someone once asked me why I put so much of my time and resources into a venture that brings me no monetary compensation. Well, you can’t take the money with you but when I “go” I’d like to be able to look my God in the eyes knowing that I did exactly what he wanted me to do in order to make this world a better place. I use to be the little girl who wanted to kill herself rather than go home to a place where I was being abused. No person should ever have to feel that way, child or adult. My goal is to do my part to eliminate that universal fear and if all I could do in life was that, then that’s exactly what I’d do.
