1. Kenni.. You wear a lot of hats.... How did all of these interest intersect?

Essentially, I’m a person who believes in making a difference and not just a dollar. Because of that, everything I set out to do has some kind of purpose, an intent upon impacting the community or my target audience in some way. With my books, although I tell compelling and interesting stories, there’s always a moral there; some lesson that you can take away from all of the drama. With my sexual abuse awareness advocacy, it’s all about reaching back to pull up someone else who has or may be in an abusive situation. As a sexual assault survivor, I know firsthand how hard it is to work through that kind of emotional, mental, maybe even physical pain. It’s my personal mission to make sure no victim ever feels alone and that the community as a whole becomes better educated about the epidemic in hopes of lessening the occurrences and encouraging more empathic responses received by victims when they speak out.

I have a passion for shoes; what woman doesn’t, right? With my company Teal Stilettos I set out to do two things: 1. Create a business that would remain relevant despite economic changes and 2. Create an entity with a unique purpose and community conscious aspect to it. With that in mind, I decided to sell shoes as a means of helping women step into their confidence while donating a percentage of each sale to my annual event Let Your Voice Be Heard, which is devoted to raising funds for organizations that provide resources to sexual abuse victims. Teal is the official color of sexual assault awareness, hence the name Teal Stilettos.
