Married life has been nothing short of a blessing. We faced so many personal adversities right from the start that could have destroyed us as individuals and as a couple but nothing can break the bond that we have. We have grown tremendously and I can honestly say that we love each other more and more each day. We may have fallen in love and gotten married but that is puppy love compared to what we share today. It has been an adventurous journey and we look forward to the many years ahead. If I can give any advice to anyone on overcoming conflict, it is simply this: do not focus on winning an argument but rather focus on solving the problem. If there is conflict of any sort, it is for a reason so get to the bottom of it as opposed to trying to make or prove a point. Communication is key to resolving anything in a marriage. But most of all PRAY! Some say marriage is like a rollercoaster ride. You experience highs, lows, twists and turns. Others say it is a life long journey of discovery. But as a clever mentor once said to me, marriage is made up of 3 Cs and 1 G. Compromise, Consistency, Communication and most importantly God. Communication is key in every relationship let alone a marriage. You have to communicate openly and be ready to compromise for the greater good of the relationship. Stay consistent in your love for each other. Let the fire that burned so brightly when you first met remain or burn brighter through the highs and lows of your marriage. And most importantly make God the foundation of your relationship.
