The Cosmetic Kitchen is the vehicle through which we intend to revolutionise the cosmetic industry, and show women that making cosmetics is as easy as baking a cake! When you walk into our little shop of colourful delights here on King Street, Newtown, you might quickly realise you have stumbled upon a very special space. What was the major source of inspiration to create The Cosmetic Kitchen? I was totally outraged at how sick women I knew were becomming. Every day, somebody was on a fight against depression, a fight cancer and a fight against another auto immune disorder. Something had to give! As the saying goes, from desperation comes inspiration... the more I researched ingredients in my favourite brands, the more rage I felt. I love cosmetics, and I love nothing more than an empowered woman - yet in chasing the next 'look' we were all becoming ill. Today, we count far too many calories, and not enough chemicals - so I feverishly started experimenting with products in my little humble kitchen at the time - I self taught myself all the ingredients, and set off like a mad scientist with the sole purpose to reinvent the colour cosmetics world into something that represented true beauty. I questioned everything - I mean everything, that was in my products, and with perseverance, reinvented the wheel with each ingredient one by one over nearly a decade behind the scenes - finally, came success. the cosmetic kitchen doors swung open to the women of the world. We love that you are not only cruelty-free, but vegan friendly too. Tell us about the ingredients that are included, as well as, excluded in your products... We dont use parabens, we dont use suspected carcinogens such as dyes, lakes and talcum, we skipped all animal secretions such as lanolin, we use botanical plant waxes instead of beeswax. We dont use ANY synthetic fragrances, such as phalates and other nasties that disrupt the endochrine system and whack hormones off balance. When you smell a choc mint body brulee, you literally are smelling the raw cacao butter and the peppermint oil! What makes The Cosmetic Kitchen different from other organic, vegan brands?
