L U R E Four-Piece The Snowbee Kuroshio comes as a fourpiece rod, designed to make transportation much easier than would be the case with a two-section arrangement. LURE used this rod on a recent trip to the Spanish coast and stored the rod – plus a heavier version in the range – in a standard sized suitcase with no issues. Made up the rod measures 7ft 2in, giving the broken down blanks a length of just over 23 inches. In The Tip The right tip on a rod being asked to cast and work such light lures for small fish is crucial when it comes to performance. This is not only for bite indication but also for casting and the development of bites. For this reason the LRF rods in the Kuroshio range come with a solid carbon tip for a sensitive, flexible and low-diameter top section. From there down the rod also has plenty of power through a progressive delivery to help out should you hook into something a bit bigger than expected. Travel Protected As well as a four-pocketed bag to carry the rod’s sections the Kuroshio also comes with a solid Cordura tube to protect your investment. Well constructed with a material outer, the tube features a zip-round top for access and measures in at 2.5in diameter and 25.5in length. Japanese Style The Kuroshio, as you will have already noticed, is highly influenced by Japanese lure fishing culture. The Japanese name in fact means ‘Black Tide’, referring to the spring current that runs past the country’s coast, bringing with it the first run of baitfish and in turn the predators that follow them – the latter of which the lure anglers over there can’t wait to target. In terms of looks the gold detailing, carbon sheen and split neoprene handle make the rod look nice and special without being too over the top.
