Piero Lissoni Light is a hole in the darkness

Master of elegance and strict designer , Piero

Lissoni is a flow , and as such I intercept him while he is moving around in one of his intense days . His projects extend globally , including private houses and yachts , residential designs and big hotels . The real power of the studio Lissoni is the ability to design an object from the small to the big scale , without losing balance and strength .
Architect Lissoni , considering that there are few things that you did not played with in your professional life , I wonder how important is for you the fatherhood of a project once you make it . Forget about the romantic idea of the designer seen as a being stroke by an idea . A project is a really small path inside a more complex one . Every time I work at a new idea , the basis is already built . I have no clue about how others work ; I know how I do it .
And how do you work ? Design is a set of synergies with the same goal . What makes the designer different from the rest of the team is the strength to make a decision and to put an end to work . Thus , it is the ability to assume the responsibility to carry on or to stop . I can guarantee that it is not a simple choice . More than thinking about fatherhood , I would rather talk about motherhood . The gestation is complex ; it is rather the ability to collect all the energy that comes from the work group that allows to get to the final shape . Every time I finish a project I usually do not like it , and for the very same reason it could be possible to never end it . At the same time ,
as every child , I am eager to start a new one .
How important is for you the element of play , and what is the extent of its influence in your production ? It is a fundamental element to produce and regenerate what may superficially appear to be always the same thing . Being able to work on new projects means to restart every time . Not necessarily starting from zero , but finding an evolution , another change . As every child , even if the “ play ” is similar to another one , the idea of finding a new one generates its difference . This is the reason why we have many plays available .
Is your creative need pushed by the necessity to stimulate pleasure in users , or is it to satisfy your volcanic creativity ? As the play ignites the stimulus to start new things , another element from which I cannot separate is curiosity . Sometimes it does not have a goal , I am fascinated by a story that maybe will have its end after a long time . But without it , I would not be pushed to go further . Play , if not joined and supported by curiosity , does not allow a wider range of transformation possibilities . This allows me to evolve . I am interested in the whole process , and I like to
