FABULOUS
FISHING
Congratulations to Zimbabwe for
their win at the Region 5 International
Bass fishing competition, which took
place at Chicamba Dam in Northern
Mozambique.
Our Protea Bass
angling side placed second overall.
They were competing against teams
from Zimbabwe, Zambia, Namibia
and Mozambique. Unfortunately,
Swaziland had to withdraw. Each
country was represented by six
boats with two anglers’ each, fishing
for five of the heaviest fish per day.
SA team manager Wessie Wessels says
South Africa lagged behind Zimbabwe
by 10 points at the end of Day One,
but caught up magnificently on Day
Two – to lead the field by five points.
Zimbabwe fought back hard on the last
day to take victory overall.
The competitors had to contend with
real Cape weather conditions, battling
rain, wind, fog and extreme cold for all
five days – including the two practise
days and three competition days.
