B ass anglers in the Pietermaritzburg and the KZN Midlands are familiar with the name Clifford “ Lemon ” Saville – a mad-keen fisherman who runs the popular Joey ’ s Towing Tournament Trail Bass angling circuit and is our Lowrance Brand Ambassador for this issue .
What most people don ’ t know is that he spent most weekends in Pennington on the South Coast where he started deepsea angling at around 12-years-old . He got the nickname Lemon there – though he ’ s keeping mum about how it originated – other than nicknames were the rage at the time . He wasn ’ t shy to mention that his dad Graeme , is well-known as “ Strawberry ” - due to the sunburn on his “ beer boep ” around his belly button !
The pair were members of Pennington Skiboat Club – and they fished off Graeme ’ s 16 ’ Invader skiboat which was fitted with a Lowrance “ paper ” unit at the time . ( He thinks it was an LMS X50 unit ). “ I grew up with Lowr ance – my dad has always been a great supporter !” Clifford said .
