We always recommend that you get your Outboard Pilot system installed by a professional. However, once it is properly installed, it is so easy to use that you can choose to calibrate it yourself. Calibration is needed in order to align your system with the compass that is built into your Point 1 AP antenna. Calibration also compensates for magnet- ic interferences, and the calibration process adjusts your rate of turn and rudder gain. All in all, it makes for a huge difference in performance. All this might sound a bit confusing, but Lowrance makes it so simple… Once the calibration is complete – you’re ready to head out on the water! Again, I have to stress that the autopilot control screen is so easy to use. There is no lengthy learning process. I’ll explain further… Once you have your NAC-1 computer linked to your display, all you need to do is press the power button once on your HDS unit in order to quickly access the autopilot controls.
