His meteoric rise con-
tinued and while still
fishing as a junior,
Gareth made the
Senior Natal team
(2015) finishing in 14th
place in the Nationals.
His most recent achievement is fishing in the
Presidents Team Test (the youngest angler ever to
do so) against Zimbabwe which was held at Inanda
Dam in July. Using his brand new Lowrance Elite-9
Ti and Elite-12Ti units, he successfully caught
seven fish on Day One and eight fish on Day Two
and Three respectively. His biggest bass weighed
in at 2.3kg.
He said, “I got to put my Elite 12 and 9 to the test
and I was really impressed! I used the 12" unit on
the console, as most of the day was spent driving
to run-in the motor which has just been rebuilt. I
have a Lowrance TotalScan transducer fitted to
the transom and was amazed at the clarity of the
readings!
I caught a few fish by seeing them on the finder
and dropping down and catching them. These
Lowrance units are truly great value for money
units and they get the job done! My FishTec HD
Fishing Charts also played a huge roll in catching
my fish - as fishing deeper water with structure is
made easy when you can see exactly what going
on down there with these charts!”
Gareth’s fishes with his dad Eugene, drawing on
his years of experience as a national angler, as
they practice and fish competitions together. They
fish off a Terminator Bass boat powered by a
150hp Mercury motor.
