GARETH POTGIETER
Our youngest Brand Ambassador Gareth Potgieter
grew up in Pietermaritzburg, where he attended
Voortrekker Hoer Skool and studied at the FET
College – concentrating on outboard mechanics.
He’s worked for Pitts Marine for the last three
years, gaining invaluable experience under Dave
Pitt’s eagle eye – where he’s responsible for sales,
spares, accessories and diagnostics.
At just 20 Years old, Gareth’s already making his
mark in senior competitive circles. He’s been bass

fishing for only 10 years (competitively for six),
and with an impressive record of accolades, the
future looks bright for this young, rising star.
His dad (multiple Protea angler Eugene Potgiet-
er) and uncle Zander, got his fishing career
going, starting in the BETT series and it was not
long before he moved into Junior Divisionals.
In 2013 Gareth made the Junior Natal Team, the
Junior Protea team in 2014 – and that year
he was also crowned Junior Wrangler angler and
Junior International Best Sportsman.
