• Make sure software is up to date This is an important step! You might not be getting the full benefits of your unit if the software is outdated. It’s very easy to update your software… and it’s free! How to download & update software: You can easily download the software directly from our Lowrance SA website www.lowrance.co.za Towards the bottom of the homepage, click on the box that reads “Get Your Free Software Updates” and select your unit model (HDS, EliteTi or Hook models). The upgrade details will then appear and you select “download.” The download will automatically save to the ‘downloads folder’ on your computer and you will need to save a copy of the downloaded software file onto a blank SD card (no larger than 32gigs). Once the software update is saved onto your card, insert that card into your Lowrance unit (make sure your unit is turned off). Turn on your unit, and the software will automatically start updating. The unit will re-boot after the upgrade is complete. Remember to remove the card when done! Alternatively, if your unit has access to Wi-Fi, you can connect and download the software directly onto your unit. Once your unit is connected to Wi-Fi, a message should pop up on your screen notifying you of available software upgrades – you just allow the unit it update itself. Please note that you need a blank SD card inside your unit when you do a Wi-Fi upgrade, because it downloads to the card not directly to the unit. • Check your card reader to ensure that it’s working Just insert a chart and make sure that it still reads and the chart details display on your screen. Spray the card reader (with no card inserted) with some corrosion block, as a preventative measure, before you launch. Don’t forget to allow the card reader to dry out before inserting a card.
