Ben and Frank Gottschalk from White
River won Lowrance’s R1000 Big Fish
cash prize in the March leg of this very
popular series – which was held at
Vygeboom
Dam
(Komati
River,
Mpumalanga).
Ben weighed in the biggest Bass of
2.215kg (caught between one and 2pm)
using his Green pumpkin purple
weightless Zoom fluke. This was the only
fish over 2kg’s to be weighed in for the
day.

conditions had forced the organisers to
change venue).
Committee member Etienne Carey says
they’ve had issues with water levels at
different dams but the next event is
scheduled for Injaka Dam at Bushbuck
Ridge in Hazeyview.
He added that around 37 of the 48 boats
taking part were Lowrance-equipped!
He took full advantage of their Elite-9
unit, as the pair focussed their efforts
and time on a shallow bank with flooded
