LOWRANCE SOUTH AFRICA Issue 28 | Page 27

slide We quickly put a decent limit together in the morning with the jerkbait and then proceeded to move offshore looking for the fish I located from the previous week. I targeted these offshore fish with a dropshot. We scanned over areas with the finders and managed to pick off a couple keepers but nothing that would improve our bag weight. The sun was now high and this generally positions some of the better fish under the hyacinth patches. I proceeded to fish a technique I have had lots of success at Inanda: the punch rig (Texas rigging a strikeking rage bug with a 1/1/4 oz tungsten sinker). I would punch this rig through some of the heaviest cover and managed to upgrade with a couple better fish. The afternoon wind then picked up and we immediately started throwing Zman Slingbladez spinnerbaits and started covering points and managed to secure the win with a 2.8 kg slab hammer of a bass anchoring our 6.8kg bag. I am very thankful to all my sponsors. Lowrance South Africa , Fishtec charts and Thornveld angling for keeping me well equipped and tournament ready. Its always special to share a day out on the water with my father and even more special when we secure a win. We can’t wait to get back out on the water and fish the next event.”
