Day 1 saw lots of Yellowfin Tuna
being caught – and there was a
fight for top spot but in the end
Sean Hewitt – took the lead with a
Yellowfin Tuna of 21.2kg. In second
place was Chappie Stoltz with his
Tuna of 19.6kg.
The Juniors also did well in the Tuna
stakes - Megan Barclay’s 18.6kg
took top spot, followed by Piet
Bodenstein’s fish of 15.7kg and
Conrad Viljoen in third place with a
15kg. The only other species caught
on the day was Finlay Davison’s 13kg
Yellow Tail.
A north-easterly proved tricky for
the anglers on Day 2, but they still
managed to land more Yellowfin
Tuna.
Nicky Momberg overtook
Sean Hewitt’s overnight lead with a
fish of 24kg (and he landed the final
third spot overall). But the hero of
the day was Julius Heynecke with
his 58kg Tuna which took everyone’s
breath away and he remained the
undisputed winner for the rest of the
competition.
