Meme (KZN), has been
chosen for the Protea
Spearfishing Team to
compete in the 2019
XXXII CMAS Euro-African
Championships (CMAS)
event in Svendborg,
Denmark (September 5 –
9th).
His selection comes after
the Trials which recently
took place in Cape
Town – where the water
temperature and visibility
are similar to Svendborg’s.
The Trials were based
on a shore entry format
to replicate the rules for
the upcoming CMAS
competition.
The top 10 finishers in
the last two South African
National events, previous
Protea Divers and Open
Competition Winners
were invited to compete.
The divers started diving
at Container bay close
to Rooi Els point on the
first day but only four
managed to weigh in fish.
In the end these results
were used to select the
National Team, as the
second days diving was
cancelled for safety
reasons.
