Ten-year-old Kaden
Leonard is “King” indeed
– catching his winning
fish (a 14.15kg Couta) off
a skiboat, on the 10th
anniversary of this popular
competition! 235 Anglers
did their best to outfish
the youngster, but his
overnight lead remained
unchallenged and Kaden
was thrilled to go home
with R20 000 in cash and a
ton of other prizes.
Kayak angler Steven Whitaker – took
second spot with his 12.95kg Couta,
with Sarah Gernetsky hot on his heels in
third place, with her Couta of 12.90kg –
caught off a jetski.
Sarah nearly lost her fish at the death!
She was fishing with Lowrance Brand
Ambassador Jason Pretorius, who
dropped it overboard while gaffing it –
but it all came together in the end and the
R10 000 cash prize was hers. (They used
Jason’s Lowrance Hook 4 unit to find the
live-bait which ultimately attracted her
big fish).
