LOWRANCE SOUTH AFRICA Issue 26 | Page 27

Lowrance SA Brand Ambassador Jason Pretorius and his fishing partner Kevin Tait (last year’s winner), doubled-up to fish off Kevin’s jetski and placed 2nd and 3rd respectively. Not bad considering they could only fish a half day on the second day and Jason fished alone on the last day, as Kevin was sick. 48 Jetski anglers took part this year – 15% more than in previous years – which goes to show that this Species competition is gaining in popularity as a premier jetski-only event. The competition operates on the Species Multiplication System – where anglers are limited to two fish per species each day, which are measured, and points allocated accordingly. (As many fish as possible are caught and released). Though fishing was tough, 156 Couta weighed-in overall, as well as 1 x Wahoo, 1 x Prodigal Son, a number of Queenfish and a few Snoek. Mike Vos won prizes worth R10 000 for the biggest Couta. slide Alister Frans caught the biggest GT to win a fishfinder from Lowrance and other prizes. In the Ladies section - Jackie Bohnen took first spot with 370 points with Nadia Vos hot on her heels with 367 points. Michelle Lidston came third. Well done to organiser Chez Thackwray, who came in 8th overall. Jason Pretorius made particular mention of how well Chez ran this competition and how hard he worked to make it the success it was!
