2019
Fishing World Games
The 4th Edition World Games of Sport Fishing 2019 is one of the biggest and most
exciting events on the global fishing calendar – and it’s happening right here in South
Africa, starting next week!
Dubbed the “Olympic Games” of fishing, this major event is being hosted by the South
Africa Sport Anglers & Casting Federation (SASACC), having been given the “thumbs up”
by CIPS (International Fishing Federation). This premier event on the CIPS calendar is very
popular among anglers, as all the World Championships take place simultaneously in one
country. It’s a huge honour for South Africa to host this year and undoubtedly, this is the
most important fishing event in our history.
Top anglers from around the globe will compete in hotly-contested events across 15
different disciplines. These include Black Bass Fishing, Big Game Fishing, Carp Fishing,
Freshwater Bank Angling, Light Tackle Boat fishing and Fly Fishing among others
– see complete list highlighted below.
Some countries have entered different teams for different disciplines, while others have six
anglers in two-man teams, competing for top honours in a particular discipline. Korea, the
USA, South Africa, Germany and many others all have two-man teams. Australia is sending
a team to the Games for the first time this year.
