PROPER MAINTENANCE OF
YOUR LOWRANCE UNIT
The festive season has officially kicked off and that means
that you will be getting a lot of use out of your Lowrance
units. So we thought it would be a good idea to give you
some tips on how to properly maintain your Lowrance unit
in order to prolong its life and get the best use out of it…
TURN YOUR UNIT OFF THE RIGHT WAY!
When you turn your cell phone
or your laptop off, you always
do it the correct way. You press
the power button, and then
manually select “power off.”
You should always treat your
marine electronics the same
way! Don’t just flip the switch at
the switch panel to kill the power
- this could cause damage.
And don’t just hold down
the power button until the
unit switches off - this almost
reboots the unit and the data
might become scrambled. If
you don’t turn your unit off
properly, you’ll lose all data
saved from that day.
The right way to turn your Lowrance unit off:
• Press the power button once
• The “power menu” will load on your screen
• Select “power off”
And make sure that you cut your power completely. Don’t just
unplug your power cable. Power is still flowing from the battery
through your cable, regardless of whether it’s plugged in or
not. This could damage the cable and it also attracts corrosion.
So make sure that your battery is completely switched off.
