He left the show two years ago, to concentrate on freshwater Carp fishing – and to get as many people as possible involved and enjoying the sport. He says that one of the biggest challenges for a Carp angler is that “what you think you see, is not what you get!” Many anglers think they know where the fish are hiding but they don’t realise that these elusive fish use drop-off’s as channels – and this can only be seen on a fishfinder/ GPS unit. Andre says John from Lowrance SA helped him choose the right unit for the job – a Hook 4X GPS - and gave him the necessary training. “This is perfect unit for the general public, especially aspiring Carp anglers, it’s very affordable and can be used effectively to catch fish! It’s all about the fishing and everyone should be able to do it to the max - without cost being a stumbling block.” “This value-for-money unit is great for finding structure and drop-off’s and on top of it you can plot the area with waypoints, as a reminder of where the Carp’s favourite areas are.” He said. While in Russia, Artlure fishing last year, Andre was again challenged to catch all the required species and he says “you have to understand the ecosystems applicable to each one. My Lowrance unit proved invaluable in this regard.” When it comes to Lowrance – Andre is completely sold out on the product. “This is the best brand, at the best price, for the best fishing possible! The service and backup from John and the rest of the team is outstanding. For me there’s nothing better than Lowrance, they are phenomenal units and the only brand I trust.” Of course, the proof is in the pudding and he added, “I recently went fishing in Lesotho and even when my unit got frozen solid, it still worked!” Not to mention his 15,5kg Carp caught at Hartebeespoort Dam last week…the fishing goes on…with Lowrance!!
