LOWRANCE SOUTH AFRICA Issue 17 | Page 18

Colin is passionate about boats, motors and fishing. He first learned to waterski at five-years-old but his love of fishing took over and he got his skippers licence at the young age of 16. His parents Neil and Sue Tapson, excelled at deepsea angling – both earning their Protea colours – and as members of Nelspruit and District Angling Club spent many hours on the water at Sodwana and Mozambique. Colin’s mom was secretary of the OET competition for many years. The apples didn’t fall too far from the tree, Colin and his siblings Carol, Royden and Diane subsequently all earned their provincial colours. If you’re in the area – pop in to Ocean Marine Boating, 1 Industrial Rd, Margate or call: 082 418 7660 or 039 317 2690 – for all your needs. If they don’t have the Lowrance product you want – they’ll order it for you and it will be there the next day! Many will remember their Lowrance - equipped 19’ Yeld Cat boat name “Sucadi” – which for some time appeared in several Skiboat Magazine adverts. More recently, mom Sue and brother Royden, invested in a Raptor 660 with Mercury 115hp motors and fitted with a Lowrance HDS 7 unit – which sports the same name. His most memorable catch is a 45kg Sailfish caught on a Kayak in 2006.
