If you’re in the vicinity and needing Lowrance products or assistance… you’d do well to contact Lauren who is super-friendly and willing to help! Dylan Banwell, who heads up this busy concern, has been in boating for a lifetime. His dad introduced him to yachting and skiboat fishing when he was very young and at the age of 10 he’d already started building his own Skivee boat under Jannie Smit’s watchful eye. Through his teens Dylan enjoyed many sailing excursions along our coastline and up to Mozambique, and it was not long before he had several successful ocean crossings to add to his resume’! He then went to University in the UK where he completed a BSc degree with honours in Yacht Manufacturing and Surveying (Composite Engineering and Marine). The next few years were spent overseas - gaining invaluable experience on both power and sailing craft and he’s since become sought after around the world for his surveying and build advice. Dylan started DB Marine Services in 2008, which initially made its mark as a small marine consultancy and surveying concern – focussed largely on sailing vessels. Everything changed when well- known boat builder Z-Craft closed and suddenly there was a gap in the market for quality skiboat builds and refits. He teamed up with Operations Manager Hayden Hegter (who ensures that the factory is running smoothly) – who has many years of sailing, yacht repairs and refits under the belt and is also proficient in skiboat repairs and refurbishments (he was running his own business at the time). Their combined vision…to make DB Marine Services a household name countrywide and to design and produce their own range of offshore craft…is happening!
