KING OF THE SEA
Congratulations to Mike Wheeler from Durban , who recently caught a 32.35kg Couta off a kayak , to win this popular annual competition held at Pumula !
This was quite a feat considering it ’ s the first time the winning fish has been caught off a kayak since the competition was opened to skiboat anglers a couple of years ago . This event , which started in 2010 , was originally only open to jetski and kayak anglers .
Even though fishing hours were extended ( after the comp was reduced to one day only - due to bad weather ) no-one could get the better of Mike , who beat the 220-strong field . Around 40 fish were caught altogether -the majority being Wahoo .
Along with many other prizes – Mike went home with a Lowrance Hook 4x unit and a Nocqua battery .
Mikala was in attendance for the weekend - with a display of Lowrance units , Nocqua batteries and our new Lowrance clothing range . There was a lot of interest at our stand which offered something for every type of angler including the Elite Ti , HDS Carbon and Hook 2 ranges .
