Carel Hunlun took 2nd place with his fish of 25,18kg-to win a Lowrance Elite 5 Ti unit with an HST-DFSBL transducer, and other prizes- totalling R63 000. Junior angler, 17-year-old Ethan Pretorius surprised the field by snatching 3rd place with a Couta of 20,38kg. You’ll notice Michael Beresford in 8th place! He also took a gamble before fishing began and it paid off! He backed his own fish for the sealed weight prize (revealed to be 16.6kgs) – and his proved a winner at 16,54kg. Michael won R30 000 in cash!Lowrance Brand Ambassador Alain Kahn took the prize for the heaviest Yellowfin Tuna - with his fish of 25,72kg. Alain said he hooked the fish in 5m of water on the back line and he finally landed it at 26m. His 12-year-old son Jordan had to skipper the boat for half an hour while he fought the Tuna. Anglers, families and friends all gathered in the giant marquee at the new Skiboat Club site at the harbour mouth for very festive afternoons of food, refreshments, live music, and to watch the fish being weighed-in. Team Lowrance’s Liz, Mikala, John and Steph were there over the weekend, to meet existing and new clients at our mobile Lowrance stand in the clubhouse. They spent time showing off the new units on display, giving tips and assisting customers and competitors with any technical queries. John jumped on various boats to assist customers with their set-up before fishing began- ensuring that all Lowrance customers were able to use their units to the absolute max during the comp.
