Years of study in boating-related courses
followed and Terry’s expertise and
reputation grew – particularly as he focussed
on the technical side. Today, he’s renowned
for his skill in dealing with many well-known
brands including Johnson, Evinrude E-Tec
and Mercury outboards and MerCruiser
inboard motors.
His excellent training was rounded off with
a year in America, where he provided
technical support to the American Coast
Guard – and he came back to Africa fully
qualified and ready to practice his trade.
He and his wife Lynne, started Kalyn Marine
Services in 1996 in Zimbabwe – successfully
running it there until their emigration to
South Africa in 2003. Once settled in Cape
Town – they restarted the business in their
new home town.

Terry continues to add to his experience,
becoming technically proficient in Jetskis,
Quad bikes and Spyder Bikes. His expertise
is also recognised by the NSRI (National Sea
Rescue Institute) and he does all their motor
installations and general backup.
