HOW TO DO A SOFTWARE RESET k nowing how to do a soware reset on your Lowrance unit is a very handy tool. A soware reset basically reverts all your sengs back to factory sengs – so your unit is set up exactly as it was when you first took it out of its box. If your device starts acng a bit strange or it becomes unresponsive, oen all you need to do is reset it and it will start working normally again. Remember back in the day, when your cell phone started to act up and you would remove its baery and put it back in again, and then your phone would reboot (or reset) and you could connue using it without any issues? Well the Lowrance soware reset works exactly the same way. It reboots your Lowrance unit, and removes any changes to the soware (changes to sonar sengs, for example), reverng it back to factory soware sengs. An important point to note is that you will NOT lose any of your saved data - for example: you will not lose any waypoints, routes or trails. If you have recently upgraded your soware, your unit will not revert back to the previous soware version with a soware reset. A soware reset just reboots your Lowrance unit and resets your sengs. DO NOT perform a hardware reset, as then you will lose ALL saved data. If you spent a lot of me out on the water during the recent December holidays and you had some guests play with your Lowrance unit, there’s a possibility that they may have messed with your sengs. It might be a good idea to perform a soware reset to ensure that your unit is set to the ideal factory sengs. It’s very easy to perform a software reset: 1. Turn your unit off 2. Hold down the PAGES buon (the buon with the two white squares) 3. Do not remove your finger from the pages buon 4. Press the power buon once (do not hold it down) 5. Wait unl you hear a two-tone beep 6. Only once you have heard the two-tone beep can you remove your finger from the pages buon You will know that the soware reset has completed if the “select language” box appears on your screen. If your unit restarts as it usually would, then perform the soware reset again. If you have a much older unit, it might require a different soware reset. Feel free to phone our technical manager (John Minnie) at our head office to ask him about how to perform a soware reset on your specific Lowrance unit.
