his popular family-run business in the
Theart of Vereeniging , is a one-stop shop for every boater and all Lowrance users .
Since 1996 , many a visitor enjoying me on the nearby Vaal River , has had occasion to pop into the shop in Hofmeyer Avenue – for parts , services and repairs , electronics or even a whole new ou it ! They have it all and nothing is le to chance . When you ' re next in town , take a look at their Lowrance display stand – and they ' ll update you on the latest available units .
When the business was first adver sed for sale , Pieter and Sonja Theron ( and Sonja ' s brother Quintus van der Merwe ) put everything on the line for the investment of a life me – even though they had no experience in the industry . Quintus pulled out a year later ( to work on oil rigs ) – but the couple together with their dedicated staff steadily carried on building Delta Marine into the well-established business it is today .
Five years ago , their son Pierre ( a respected Bass angler in his own right and also a proud Lowrance ambassador ) finished university and joined the firm .
He gained a wealth of knowledge and skill under workshop manager Chris Duarte , who worked with him on the design of their Raptor boat – a VERY popular bass boat . Sadly , Chris died ( a er a long illness ) just before the launch of the new boat and Pierre has taken over running the workshop and helps his dad with sales .
Pierre also proudly loaned his Raptor boat to Protea angler August Lingnau – helping the SA th team to victory in the recent 13 World Black Bass Championships - held on the Vaal River .
