Nation Championship

James Van Rooyen, tells us a bit

Lowrance Brand ambassador , about the 2017 B . A . S . S Nation Championship he recently attended .

“ n 2016 , a er fishing the bass season in Namibia ,

II was the highest ranked angler and therefore earned my place at the pres gious tournament - B . A . S . S . Na on Championship 2017- which was held at Lake Hartwell , South Carolina , in USA .

The tournament is one of the highest achievements that an angler can a ain , and it has been a dream of mine to a end the event ever since I was 10 years old .
Only the best anglers in the world get to a end , so I was honoured to represent Namibia at this event .

On the 8 October I le Namibia and flew 24 hours to Washington DC where I met up with my mom and sister .
I had a few crazy days of shopping in stores like Bass Pro Shops and other tackle stores un l my credit card was red hot .
I then flew to Atlanta , Georgia and caught an UBER to Anderson in South Carolina .
This would be my home base for the dura on of the tournament .

On Friday 13 October I met up with the guys from Palme o Boats and they kindly lent me a 20Xs Triton with a 250 Mercury Pro XS and , most importantly , the boat had Lowrance finders installed .
I had an Elite 5X on the bow , with an HDS 7 Gen 2 ( Bu on ) and HDS 9 Carbon at the console .
We then hired a GMC pickup from U-Haul , and we were ready to start exploring Lake Hartwell .
Saturday through to Monday evening were prac ce days . I spent countless hours searching , mapping and scanning this huge piece of water .
