Byron took home R25 000 cash and a Lowrance Hook² unit, among other
prizes. Mark Reeves took second place and Richard Griffiths third. Gordon
Bannister and Brett Bartho won the doubles division and Duane and Delene
Joubert won the mixed doubles division.
127 Anglers (109 jetskis) took part in this event, the world’s biggest jetski-only
fishing competition, which is a highlight on the angling calendar. Fishing was
tough over the three fishable days, due to changing weather and competition
from sharks, but some amazing fish were caught and released - including a 120kg
Black Marlin (estimated weight).
Much fun was had – especially on the “off” day when the anglers took part in
the tug-of-war contest which resulted in much hilarity. Proceeds of the auctions
held were donated to a local orphanage.

Byron says all credit to Go Fish Magazine for running such a professional
competition and Chez from Racetech who worked incredibly hard to make it
such a huge success!
