2007 Represented South Africa in the F.I.P.S.ed World Carp Angling Championships
(Serbia) – team ended 4th overall.
2008 2nd South Africa team selection - team won the F.I.P.S.ed World Carp Angling
Championships in convincing fashion, with Overall Team Gold, Overall Individual
Gold, Individual Silver, Individual Bronze and bettered eight of the nine World
Records in F.I.P.S.ed Carp Angling.
2009 3rd SA team selection - F.I.P.S.ed World Carp Angling Championships (Lac du Uby,
France). Team achieved Overall Team Gold, Overall Individual Gold and Overall
Individual Silver.
2010 4th SA team selection - F.I.P.S.ed World Carp Angling Championships (Oxford
Linear Fisheries, England). Team achieved Team Gold, Individual Gold and Individual
Bronze.
2011 5th SA team selection - F.I.P.S.ed World Carp Angling Championships (Lake
Pietrafita, Italy). Team achieved Team Gold and Individual Bronze, making it 4 x
World Champions in a row.
2012 - 2015 Gilbert made the team for a ninth year consecutively and fished Romania, Portugal,
Italy and Spain and averaged between 5th and 8th.
2015 - 2017 He was voted in as a Convenor of the SAFBAF Carp Facet and in this time, he
presented two successful SA National Carp Championships and two National Carp
Angling Trials.
NATIONAL
SELECTOR:
Between
2015 & 2017
He appeared four times as National Selector, three times in the Carp Facet and
once in the Bank Angling Facet.
2018 Selected as Team Captain/Coach to represent the Protea Carp Team to fish a Test
against Namibia. SA Won the Test.
2019 Selected as Team Captain/Coach for the Protea Carp Team to fish in the World
Games 2019 at Bloemhof Dam where our Team won the event for a Record 5th
time.
CLINICS:

Gilbert has hosted more than 75 Carp Angling Clinics around South Africa.
He has also served on the SAFBAF Carp Committee for 13 years with the last two
years as Chairman.
Gilbert’s passion is Carp Angling, Development, tutorials and product enhancement
and development. He has also written more than 52 articles in various magazines,
including Carp Talk, Carp World, The Bank Angler, Tight Lines and The Carp Angler
magazines.
