Benefits of 60RPM
A faster rotation speed allows
a faster refresh of targets in
the PPI (radar screen).
This is particularly useful for
vessel moving at high speed
and tracking vessels moving
at high speed.
It also assists MARPA target
tracking to provide accurate
speed and direction of
tracked targets .
60rpm can reduce energy on
target at longer ranges, so we
restrict this to ranges of 2nm
and less.
