empowerment, and body
love.
While they don’t currently
have any change rooms, Neon
Moon is a lingerie brand that
believes your body makes
their lingerie beautiful, not
the other way around. Their
lingerie is designed with
women’s comfort as the
primary objective. They never
use underwires or padding, so
their bras fit the body instead
of altering somebody’s
natural appearance. That’s
what makes this lingerie
sexualization-free. Comfort
trumps cleavage when it
comes to Neon Moon’s bras
because women should never
be required to look sexy.
When stretch marks, body
hair, cellulite, scars, freckles
and acne would usually be
retouched out of photos that
are selling lingerie, Neon
Moon’s website embraces
them. In fact, a huge part
of their campaign involves
selfies taken by their
customers. It’s incredibly
helpful to see others who
look like us wearing the
clothes we want to purchase.
Yet another reason to love
those lingerie selfies!
Curvy Kate’s advertising
campaign for their Scantilly
collection stands alone as
the most body-positive
lingerie campaign ever.
Curvy Kate has included
models with amputations,
alopecia, birthmarks, and
those using assistive devices
like a wheelchair. They have
also included women who
have recovered from eating
disorders, plus-size women,
trans women and older
women as models in their
ethnically diverse campaign.
It’s refreshing to see in a
lingerie advertisement. Curvy
Kate is doing a great job of
demonstrating that beauty
comes in all shapes, abilities,
sizes, shades and forms.
Whether you call it a
lingerie selfie or boudoir
photography, we challenge
you to embrace it! There’s
power in embracing one’s self
and accepting your body for
what it is. Just remember that
lingerie confidence comes
from within -- don’t be afraid
to explore!
