How has your experience
been working with
models?
What is the difference
between working with
models of various sizes?
Contrary to what most people may
think, there is really no difference. A
model is a model and angles are what's
I love working with models. I can relate important. Since my experience began
to them 100% even when they don't
with shooting plus/curve models I learned
necessarily think so. I honestly want to see all of the angles that work best for women
each and every one of them succeed in
with curves. With that, I am able to easily
this industry. My art comes from my soul
and I have so much love for my clients.
This is more than a business to me. It's
personal. It's an expression of what inspires
me. It's truly art.
Sharing my knowledge and experience
with th em feels like it's all part of the
service I am providing throughout the
shoot. So much of the success of my work
is dependent on the connection I have
with my model that day. When they are
open and communicative with me, I am
open to inspiration and intuition. That's
when the magic happens. Most of my
favorite shots are a result of connecting
with my subject and kind of seeing with
my mind's eye what will work for them,
what kind of clients will love them and
from there I can offer advice and insight
to help take them and their careers to the
next level. I don't feel it's a coincidence
that a lot of models I work with go on to
get signed to agencies, get bigger clients
and lots of exposure in the industry. This
is the purpose of what I do. The photos
are both a perk and the result of the
connection we have.
photography. I got way more serious
about photography after I modeled
for 3 years. I was fortunate enough to
work as a wholesale representative for
a small company called Dulce. At the
time the company had no budget for a
shoot to promote the designs we carried.
The owner of the Dulce came up with a
brilliant idea. She suggested that I and a
fellow model pull double duty on a shoot.
We would model and shoot each other and
use those images for marketing material
and the website. Fortunately, both I and
the other model were artistically inclined
and the images came out beautifully. What
I really learned that day was my talent, eye
and passion for photography were stronger
than my passion for modeling. From there
I began to teach myself all I could. I read
books, I practiced on family members, I
watched instructional videos on Youtube,
I taught myself photoshop. I invested in
my equipment and never stopped working
towards improving. Thankfully, a model
who was signed with Wilhelmina gave
me the opportunity to shoot her for her
book. From there, her agency added me to
their list of approved photographers and I
started shooting their models about once a
week on average.
