what they were doing, in order
investigate her options and
figure out what she wanted to
do.
One of her good friends
had been working at the
White House and thought
Lauren would love to work in
policy research. "What's policy
research? I don't even know
what that is." She soon got
a job working with a policy
research center, working on
children's insurance. "I realized
that I really didn't like research,
I really liked policy, but I didn't
like the research part at all.
So, I ended up at the Office
of Management and Budget,
which is part of the White
House, doing oversight of
L
government research
and regulations." She
was working with the
policies that drove
social and domestic
practices for housing,
education, healthcare,
labor, disability and
more. "I was telling
the cabinet-level
secretaries, ‘No Sir,
that is not going to
happen,’ or ‘Yes Sir,
that can happen,’
which was really a cool and
amazing job -- 90 to 100 hour
week almost consistently, but
it was awesome! I was sitting
in the White House at 25 years
old."
auren stayed in that
position for nearly five
years until her significant
other received military
orders that required
him to move to Naples, Italy.
"He came to me and asked if
I wanted to get married, sell
the house that we had bought
together, quit my job, move
overseas and start a life in
Italy." Lauren quickly points
out that this occurred around
the time of the movie, "Under
the Tuscan Sun."
