communities and our natural environment. With 7.5 billion human beings on the planet, a number expected to reach
10 billion by 2050, a vast majority of whom either live or are flocking into urban centers, humanity’s disconnection
from nature has become an epidemic of alarming proportions.
Located near our own urban center, the Louisville Zoo continues to find new ways to help families engage and connect
with their Zoo, to educate and inspire, and to make lasting memories. To keep doing this important work, we know we must
keep improving, enhancing, and expanding our offerings. We must keep communicating our mission in compelling new

Launched in February 2016, our Master Plan calls for $180 million

in projects to be introduced in phases over the next 15 years
based on fundraising. The plan includes: a new entry, the snow

leopard habitat, the Safari Base Camp education gathering space,
African savanna, a shark conservation institute, an expanded
waterpark, a primate passage, the Crocotorium, Kentucky Trails,
and an outdoor passage exhibit in our Islands area.
OUR LEADERSHIP CAPITAL
CAMPAIGN
Thanks to the generous donations to our Leadership Capital
Campaign, the Zoo broke ground on $8.9 million in construction
in early 2018. Snow Leopard Pass, our new snow leopard exhibit,
will also feature an adjacent early learning play space, the Cub
House, presented by PNC. Meanwhile, our new African primate
exhibit, Columbus Crossing, will be introducing two new species
