pany working to devel-
op a wireless implant-
able spinal rod strain
sensor. This monitoring system will allow spine surgeons to assess
the strain placed on fusion rods already implanted through an app
on their smartphones. It’s another step forward for a specialty in

which Dr. Puno has long been carving his own path.
When not practicing medicine, Dr. Puno enjoys snowboarding,
cycling and scuba diving. He’s completed 20 marathons and also
enjoys preparing fine dining experiences for his family and spinal
fellows. He lives by a simple mantra: “You can do anything as long
as you put your mind into it.” His remarkable career is proof of
just that.
