dad, which was amazing.
Then on the two days of
the week he worked, my
mother would fly up from
Louisville every weekend
to stay with Elina. She got
to know the Southwest
flight attendants pretty
well.”
In 2010, Dr. Sohi and
her family returned to
Louisville where she
joined Louisville Gastro-
enterology Associates. “I
spent what I guess were
my formative years in big
cities, so initially it was a
little hard moving back.
Also, you make friends
and develop a life in those
areas, but I always knew
I wanted to come home.

family welcomed another little one when their son, Luka, was born.
New things have drawn her interest. For the last year or so, she
and her daughter have been circusing, performing aerials and ac-
robatic yoga together. “My daughter became interested in trapeze.
She signed up with a friend and loved it. I thought it looked fun, so
we started taking classes together.” Although Dr. Sohi had a fear of
heights initially, practicing aerials pushed that fear away.
“We recently did acro-balancing together, and it was so fun. I’m
much more comfortable higher up than I thought I would be. You
start to trust your body. You realize you can hold yourself up. It’s
super fun. It pushes me outside my comfort zone. I’m a big believer
in continuing to play for as long as you live. That’s what life should
be, right?”
After her educational travels and having found her passion, Su-
nana Sohi is today surrounded by family and friends. She loves
being a mom. She’s a long-time vegetarian, and still active in yoga
and meditation. Last but not least, she has found happiness in her
career as a gastroenterologist.
we’re very close, so that was a priority.” “I go in and help people every day. That’s how I make a living,
which is incredible,” she said. “I get to sit and talk with people and
establish a relationship. Even endoscopies and colonoscopies are
fun. It’s an enjoyable thing to do, believe it or not. I wouldn’t do it
if I didn’t have fun.”
Since the move home, life has slowed down ever so slightly, at least
as much as it can with two young children. In 2012, Dr. Sohi and her Aaron Burch is the communications specialist for the Greater Louisville
Medical Society.
