has received national recognition for its success, and has become a model for replication of similar programs across the state, nation and globe. THP began as a JCMS initiative, incorporated as the JCMS Outreach Project, and it continues to receive great support from GLMS even as it has become an independent organization. Lelan has been our consistent representative and channel to THP’s board throughout the years since its founding. Another project that has grown from a modest JCMS initiative to an independent and effective community organization is Supplies Over Seas, which ships over 100,000 pounds of reclaimed and recycled medical supplies to communities around the world in sites of desperate need, and provides support to many local physician mission trips. Supplies Over Seas is now expanding its hospital affiliations across Kentucky and Indiana. The initiatives listed above represent the most spectacular contributions from Lelan and his leadership teams, but they are only a fraction of the total advocacies and effective programs of our Society.
