CHAPTER 5 Implementation INTRODUCTION The Louisville Loop is a complex and dynamic project that requires a multi-year, incremental approach to implement. It is a long-term investment that will last many generations with proper care, as this Louisvilleā€™s Olmsted Park system can attest. Build- ing on the existing assets and following the vision, it is important to consider how the project will continue to be funded, construct- ed, marketed, managed, evaluated, and sustained. The following chapter provides a general introduction to these imperatives. The purpose of the Master Plan is to provide a general overview and introduction to the entire system as a starting point for future action. Likewise, the following items are intended to serve as an initiating point for greater exploration and strategy development. PRIORITIZATION FOR IMPLEMENTATION At the time of this master plan, the exact routes and needed right-of-way for acquisition or use of the complete Loop align- ment is unknown. Therefore, the Louisville Loop Work Group and others involved in planning the future of the Louisville Loop have provided suggested criteria for selecting funding and prioritiz- ing future projects. These criteria are based on a review of local knowledge, national best practices, and information relevant to the project. The following criteria (order not reflective of weight) should be considered and followed in determining capital proj- ects: Lousville Loop Master Plan 59
