LOS ANGELES FIRM INC MAGAZINE NOVEMBER / DECEMBER 2015 Style is key in fashion. More often than not, we browse pages of Cosmo and Vogue only to find overdressed models and celebrities wearing far too many accessories. Well, I’m here to tell you there’s a reason for the cliche, “less is more”. It’s perfectly okay not to be overly dress draped with tons of sloppy looking vintage accessories that miss the mark. Be a trendsetter. You can put too much thought into standing out and actually not stand out at all. As a matter of fact, just because everyone else follows a trend doesn’t mean you must. The ‘in crowd’ is overrated. In my professional opinion, few accessories and color coordination is the way to go. Those overdressed models with all the excessive accessories are only suitable for some, not all, photo shoots. Randomly going out fashioned like that thinking you look fabulous is so not hip. I’m going to start teaching stylists how to style correctly and how to execute looks that are powerful and relevant. Just take a look around you. Now, fast forward that to the future of what’s to come. Not such a pretty sight any more now is it? Thank the fashion Gods for stylists like myself that still believe in trendsetting, being different and not just tagging along with whatever else is out there. Ask anyone that ha s worked with me, I’m very strict and picky in your best interest. I follow my own blue print, I watch, I learn and I take my time to produce creative solutions and ultimately get respectful results. I study to become better and even after all these years of experience I enjoy being a student of the game. Stylists everywhere, I urge you to learn something new everyday, and be humble doing it. Fashion is optional, however, style is mandatory. WRITTEN BY: DARCELL CARRAWAY THE STYLIST CORNER
