I

n an email from Director Fabien Martorell whom
I met on Facebook back in 2012, he mentioned his
appreciation for yet another great working experience. Despite being a good friend of Fabien’s, I
was still so honored to be among the first to view
the finished film. He’s a down to earth, humble
type of easy going guy that just does his job extremely well.

The film complimented everyone involved. If I had
to describe this film briefly I’d say “ It was absolutely
phenomenal. I could actually feel the tension during the
conversation between the two lead actors. I felt anxious
from the narrative. Tobin Bell’s voice carried with it a
tone of calm yet eerie tension. I most definitely could
see award nominations and accolades pouring over
this film. Going into my viewing, I wasn’t sure what to
expect from Andrew Howard.

“Unbelief is a suspense/drama short film, very atmospheric and subtle with two amazing actors. I especially like
this line of dialogue “Disbelief is easy, it’s faith that takes
courage and character” because it perfectly summarizes
the main themes of the movies which are childhood, faith
and how our pasts never leave us… no matter what we
do.”

Turns out, I actually loved his acting. I felt he play a
challenging role next to a tough act in Tobin Bell and
seemingly nailed it. Blows my mind to think I got
an invite to take part in the taping in Downtown Los
Angeles. I rate this film the best of the year at all festivals. The solid acting combined with brilliant writing
and profound directing leads to a stellar performance
that will put festival goers on the edge of their seats
worldwide. Music is often underrated, so I want to
make special mention of how well paired the music
was with the overall picture.
I think that there’s similar themes that we can find in
The Coin: childhood, hope, faith and magic.
One of the pieces of dialogue that stuck with me is:
“Disbelief is easy, it’s faith that takes courage and
character”. Enjoy the show!
