LOS ANGELES FIRM INC MAGAZINE LOS ANGELES FIRM INC MAGAZINE JULY JULY / 2014 2014 / AUG AUG We noticed over the past year or so you switched the name of your company what is the story behind that? Any good designer is open to the ebb and flow of life; their designs reflect societal changes. With my couture company being in its infancy and as I was moving away from post-apocalyptic art, I felt that Chrome Petals better represented the raw delicacy of the streamlined designs. It signifies the darkness taking hold and thus light revealing it, the ancient and modern influences, the soft brush and razor-sharpness, the yin and yang-- the balance of life. It’s edgy, it’s chic; I love it. If you could pick any top model to dress in your brand who would that be? My friend Rain Dove, who is fantastic and always an inspiration to me; she perseveres against all odds. Rain goes against the stream of what’s socially expected and is redefining the mode of “models” as we speak as an all-time androgynous model. Because it’s just about how sassy you can own those clothes, right? facebook.com/raindovemodel What is your favorite fashion week? Paris Fashion Week-- the French are ahead of the curve indefinitely and are the original couturiers. How long have you been an artist? I‘ve always had a creative flair, which involved cutting my microbangs at the age of 4 before a dance recital; my mother loved this (not). Quaintly enough, this was the year that my grandmother taught me how to sew. And… I’ve carried the style with me. Go figure.
