What are some of the projects you have lined up for the near future? (after Jan 2016) LOS ANGELES FIRM INC MAGAZINE JANUARY / FEBRUARY 2016 In 2016 I plan to have my first solo show, I have already approached various galleries and veteran artists and got some great advice on how to succeed for an up and comer. Who recognized you and gave you the break you needed to become reconized? Instagram has been a great platform for me, I can reach people directly that way. I have gotten features on various art accounts like “Art Spotlight” “Art of Drawingg” and “World of Pencils” as well as my drawings being recognized by different celebrities like, Meagan Good, Common and Araab Muzik. A big break for me, was a recent feature on Greenlabel.com that got the attention of various magazines like Complex, that was doing a short for the Wiz Live. Do you have other interest besides art? I have a huge interest in Music, I used to produce music as a hobby in my late teens up until 21. I still love music, and I’d love to work with artists in a creative collaborative way in the future. I also love Photography, being an artist I have huge respect for Photographers. It takes the perfect eye and moment to capture something magical. I’m currently pursuing that passion on the side too. Who are some of the individuals that influenced you as an artist? What made you want to start drawing? I always liked to draw growing up, I would doodle on almost anything but I never took it seriously until last year, in March. I got into art because it was an outlet to express myself in a positive way, it was an escape for me at the time. Although my drawings weren’t as realistic as they are now. I got compliments from people on Instagram about my style and choice of drawing. I got into an accident at a place I worked around September 2014, I broke a major bone in my foot and I was on crutches for a while, I’m fully healed now, but being in that situation made me value life more. The doctors said I was very lucky to not lose my foot or require major surgery. It was at that point that I decided if I’m going to do this, I have to give it my all. How would you best describe your art work? My artwork is best described as Realism, and since I use pencil I can control every tiny detail to how I desire. From time to time I like to throw people off and draw some 3d art, some animation or just simple sketches but Realism is my main focus. I don’t have any specific influences but I definitely draw a lot of inspiration from wildlife, I’m a big fan of wild cats and nature as a whole. However, I look to other artists work like Pez, an Artist from Nantes France his work is gold. He is precise, he tells a story and also has a realistic feel that I like. Heather Rooney is another artist I look to as well, her work is solid. Her level or realism is unmatched, you need to check out her YouTube time lapse videos if you haven’t already.
