Hello, Luke Goldscar here. If you've been in any bookstore, you've probably seen Lady Midnight. Lady Midnight is the first book of Cassandra Clare's The Dark Artifices Series. It is the third series in the Shadowhunters books. And I am writing a review for it.

Lady Midnight was an amazing book. Its a forbidden love story between Parabatai. It is the story of Emma Carstairs and Julian Blackthorn investigating demonic murders and attempting to find who killed Emma's parents in the attack on the institute in City Of Heavenly Fire.

The book had extremely solid characters. Each character has their own amazing traits and flaws. And as usual, it is hard to pick your favorite character because of how well written they are.

It has a dark tone, but at times it is light. It shows that if we allow ourselves to hate a whole group of people, we are going to suffer. The Fey Folk were isolated from the Shadow world yet they still helped the Shadowhunters. They were able to meet each other halfway.

I absolutely loved how much effort Cassandra put into the scenery. I could always know where they were and I was able to imagine it. There were whole pages dedicated to the scenery. It truly shows how well of a writer she is.

Spoilers:

The book has multiple twists and turns, including the identity of the killer, the forbidden love, and the reveals. The original Shadowhunter gang appears at times, and that is amazing. Magnus and Alec are revealed to be married, Simon proposes to Izzy, and they are at peace.

I loved this book so much, I would give it 10/10 and would highly suggest this. Note: You should read “The Mortal Instruments" before this.
