Fairy Tail

By Catalina

Lucy’s POV

Today was Valentine’s Day and Mira was holding a party in the guild to celebrate it. She invited everyone from the rest of the guilds too, as she wanted to make a big grand party. It was her favorite holiday. She was Fairy Tail’s very own matchmaker, after all. I was at my apartment getting ready for it. Grey would be here in half an hour. He had offered to take me to the party—Mira had made it very clear that we wouldn’t be able to get in if we don’t have a date. He wanted to go with Juvia, but she had already said yes to Lyon, so he decided to take me instead. I didn’t mind, Natsu had already asked Lisanna to the party. I had really wanted to go with Natsu.

“Lucy, are you ready?” I heard Grey say as he came in.

“Yeah, I’m coming.” I yelled back. I put on some lip gloss, grabbed my pink purse, and left the room.

“Wow, you look beautiful, Lucy.” Grey complimented me as we headed out.

“Thank you, Grey. You look quite handsome yourself. “ I giggled a bit. He did look hot. He had on a black suit with a gray shirt. The suit was outlined with blue icicles. I was wearing an off the shoulder pink and white dress. It reached my knees. As the pink got to the bottom, it slowly lighten until it was completely white. It had ruffles at the end, and cut off sleeves like Levy’s. The chest area was decorated in light pink crystals. My hair was in a braided bun with strands of hair framing my face. I was wearing a golden necklace that Grey had given me. I finished this look with white heels. We arrived at the guild, but we didn’t go in.

“Lucy, you know the plan, right?” he asked me. We had planned to make Juvia and Natsu jealous.

“Of course. Operation Jealousy starts right now!” I shouted and kicked the door opened while grabbing onto Grey’s hand. Everybody stopped and turned to look at us. The noise, which had been loud enough to be heard over all Fiore, was now so silent that a pin could be heard when dropped.

“Hello, everyone!” I greeted them, while pulling Grey to the bar where Mira, Juvia, Lyon, Natsu, and Lisanna were sitting.

“Hey Mira!” I greeted her ignoring the others. I smiled happily while looking at Grey.

“Hey Lucy! I didn’t known Grey was your date.” she said smiling. She was dressed in a pretty red dress with red heels.

“Yeah, I forgot to tell you. But he asked in such a sweet way that I couldn’t say no to him. Right, Grey?” I turned to ask him, smiling. He blushed a bit.

“I um… well… um...” he stuttered. He’s a good actor.

“Ah, come on, don’t be shy, Grey. Tell us.” Mira said, grinning. She must be really enjoying this.

“Yeah, ice princess, tell us.” Natsu growled. I looked at him to see that he was completely red.

“I agree with Natsu. Tell us how you did it. You couldn’t possible be more romantic than me.” Lyon exclaimed. When Grey heard his voice, he turned red with anger.

“Alright, I will.” he spat out at Lyon. He began to tell our fabricated story. “Well, I asked her to come meet me by the Sakura trees. By the time she arrived I had managed to get a couple of kids to hold up some posters with a word in each of them. They spelled out ‘Will you go to the dance with me?’ I also had some musicians play her favorite song. When she turned back around to face me, I had been kneeling in front of her holding a Sakura Flower.”

I looked around at Juvia, to see that she was glaring daggers at me. If looks could kill, I would have been dead twenty times by now. Hahaha! It’s working! Well, at least for Juvia. I looked at Natsu. He didn’t have a reaction, in fact, his face was devoid of any emotion. I stopped smiling for a moment before I put on my fake smile again. I must go on with the plan.

“I felt so special. Grey went through all that trouble for me, and I just couldn’t reject him.” I said. I felt Grey put his arm around my waist. I glanced at him to see him winking at me. I giggled, and was about to respond to him when I felt myself being ripped away from him.

“Let’s dance, Luce.” Natsu whispered in my ear. I shivered as I felt his breath. I looked at him then back at Grey as if asking if it was okay. Grey smiled and nodded. As I went to the dance floor, I saw that Grey had also asked Juvia to dance. I laughed at Juvia as she dragged Grey to the dance floor screaming. I chuckled. She was most definitely in love with him.

“O-Oi Luce are you gonna dance or keep staring at Grey?” the pink haired dragon slayer growled. I giggled as I held his hand. Maybe he is jealous. Natsu stiffened and looked down as pink tinged his cheeks.

“What’s wrong Natsu?” I asked worriedly. I grabbed his chin and made him look at me.

“I-I can’t dance.” he mumbled, looking away. I smiled.

“Then why did you ask me to dance?” I tilted my head a bit.

“I… ah… I um…”

“It’s okay. I don’t mind, in fact I’ll teach you.” I said. I grabbed his hand and put it around my waist, and held his other. I slid my hand to his neck and pulled him closer. “Just follow my lead. It’ll be easy.” I showed him. “See?” He blushed, but still followed my steps. Pretty soon he got the hang of it and began to take the lead. After the song ended, I went back to where we were sitting. I thought that Natsu would go sit with Lisanna, but he sat by me. Gray came back with Juvia and sat next to me. He grabbed my hand and nodded towards the door. I guess he wanted to talk to me or something. I got up, but before I could follow him Natsu grabbed my waist and pulled me back.

“Oi, where are you taking Luce you prevent?” he growled, slowly pulling behind me.

“Well if you must know, I need to talk to my date privately.” Grey smirked at him. He’s trying to get Natsu riled up. Natsu growled and was about to launch at him, but I stopped him. He gave me a confused look, but I just shook my head and smiled. Pain flashed across his face, but it was so quick that I think I imagined that. I followed Grey outside.

“So, what happened?” I asked him. I was really curious as to what had happened with Juvia. He said that while they were both dancing Juvia admitted that she was jealous of me, and ask why Grey didn’t ask her. He told her that it was all a trap to get her attention, which made Juvia cry. Basically, they’re together now.

“So is it okay if I spend the reste of the night with Juvia?”

“You don’t even have to ask, of course it’s okay! That was the whole point, right?”

“Yeah, but what about flame brain?” he asked, and worry filled his voice.

“Don’t worry about that. Just enjoy your night.” I pulled him back inside. We were about to part ways when he came back and hugged me.

“Thank you so much, Lucy.” he whispered. I smiled as Grey went to join Juvia. I turned to go to talk to Natsu, but he was not there. I looked all over the guild hall, but he still wasn’t there. I decided to go look for him. I looked all over the town, but I didn’t find him. Finally I went to look by the Sakura trees, and there he was!

“Natsu, I have been looking all over for you!” I said sitting down beside him. He didn’t even glance at me. “Is something wrong? Did something happened with Lisanna?” my smile slowly faded.

“No.” he said, emotionlessly.

“Then why aren’t you with her? Isn’t she your date?”

“I don’t wanna be with her. I wanted to be with someone else.” Someone else? Did he love someone else?

“Well then, why aren’t you with the other girl?” I felt my heart sink.

“She came with another guy, and she seemed to like him.” Hmm. Who could he like if it isn’t Lisanna?

“Well you should tell her. Who knows maybe she’ll leave the guy. If she doesn’t then she won’t know what’s she's missing out on.” I said, smiling even I wanted to cry. He finally looked at me with his onyx eyes that I loved so much.

“You mean it?” he said hope clearly filling his voice. My heart broke a little more.

“Of course I do!” He mumbled something, but I didn’t catch it. “Huh?”

“It’s…you.” I still didn’t hear the last part.

“Speak louder, I can’t hear you.” I said. He sighed heavily. He pulled me toward him, making me sit in his lap. He grabbed my head and smashed his lips with mine. I had stayed completely still, not knowing what just happened. I felt Natsu starting to pull away, so I put my arms around him and begin to kiss back. He smiled against my lips. After a while, we both pulled away, breathing heavily.

“It’s you. I’m in love with you, Luce.” he said, as he leaned his head against mine.

“I love you too, Natsu!” A grin filled his face and he kissed me once more.

We then got up to head back to the guild. Mira fainted when she sees us holding hands. Gray smiled and winked at me, making Natsu growl and pull me closer. I turned to kiss him, and the whole guild erupted with happiness. This was definitely a Valentine’s Day that I had not expected.
