Each half of the unit is fitted with pipe work relating to the heating and
plumbing systems. The heating system, which extends to both halves of the
unit, has been charged with anti-freeze before leaving the factory.
There are a number of link pipes that need to
be connected underneath the unit. They are
supplied pre-cut and lagged, and need to be
inserted into the pipe work either side. In the
case of the heating system pipes; once the
link pipes have been installed, the ball valves
either side can be opened, allowing the
heating system fluid to flow properly.
In the case of the hot & cold water system
pipes, no valves are installed in these. Clearly
these link pipes need to be in place before the
unit is connected to the mains water supply.
No leaks should be evident from the heating
system after the valves have been opened. At
this point check pressure of system at boiler
and recharge if necessary. Leaks from the hot
& cold system will not of course be evident until the unit has been connected
to the mains water supply during the commissioning process, and both the hot
& cold water systems charged and run.
Final Testing
Once the installation is complete, because nails, staples etc are used in the
finishing process, the unit should be electrically tested by a competent person.
After this all equipment in the unit should be tested for operation. This should
include the testing of the water and heating systems to ensure that no leaks
have occurred from nailing or stapling operations
The unit will then be ready for functional testing by a suitably competent
person after all other work has been completed.
Please Note: This unit must not be connected to any mains supplies until a
competent person has deemed it fit to be so by means of appropriate
Inspections and Tests. From caravan national council guidelines and health
and safety requirements the competent person would be on the roll of either
the NICEIC, ECA, Gas Safe.
